Within the communications industry many different types of agency exist; Above the Line (advertising), Below the line (everything but advertising), Through the line (everything), creative, media, design, digital, etc.
The work that is done at a communications agency follows a general structure. The process begins when a team of Creatives, Account Handler and Account Planner attend a briefing to learn details of a new project (e.g. business objectives, detail of the product/service, target audience, competitive information, budget and timings)
This brief is worked up into a creative brief by the Accounts department and given to a Creative Team who generate ideas to meet the brief. These are reviewed internally before the strongest idea is presented to the Client. Once an idea is agreed, it is developed into a campaign.
