SMARTS ventured in to ticklish territory with the launch of Scotland’s first eco-erotic boutique and online shop ‘Organic Pleasures‘. PR consultant Viv Blair challenged traditional images and perceptions of the ‘sex shop’. The new store offers a genuine alternative to high street chains by promoting the luxury, sensuality and natural quality of the hand-picked products. The sassy young female shop owner proved to be a real hit with the media, as did the decadent shop.
“The minute we picked up the phone to the awaiting media, they were biting our hands off and were eager to see the shop for themselves,” says Viv. “After being entertained in the burlesque boudoir, journalists across the country put pen to paper, (well, more likely fingers to keyboards).”
The lavish double page spread in Edinburgh’s evening paper was followed by sumptuous features in Scottish national newspapers and glossy magazines. And it wasn’t just about the new opening - the agency offered something different to all media, from the issues in the industry to the cool interiors and the personality behind the venture – always ensuring each journalist had a unique angle. The result for the client – women in Edinburgh flocking to Broughton Street to get their hands on everything from pure organic silk underwear to the more risqué ‘toys’. And for SMARTS – a cracking low budget project which added a little spice to our client portfolio.
