The Gate are delighted to have won the business to create a digital strategy for the People Making Waves initiative, an ambitious four year project from Volunteer Development Scotland (VDS).
Aiming to connect people in Scotland with the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the lottery funded project through the Legacy Trust UK and the Scottish Arts Council, features four waves of activity designed to engage and inspire Scottish volunteers before, during and after the games. These activities include personal recollections from volunteers, an exchange programme, a grant scheme, and ‘A Scottish Wave of Change’ which will reflect Scotland’s participation in this historic event.
Using the Olympic values of Friendship, Respect, Courage, Determination, Equality and Inspiration as a starting point, the People Making Waves website will be a place for individuals and organizations to record their volunteering experiences linked to the London 2012 games and Paralympic Games.
The Gate’s task is to generate traffic to the existing website, which will take the form of a digital storybook, with words, images and videos creating a meaningful and lasting legacy of Scottish involvement in the upcoming Olympics.
‘We’re excited to be working with VDS on this far-reaching project,’ says The Gate’s managing director Helen Hourston. ‘It’s a great opportunity to help inspire Scottish people to develop their volunteering experience and be connected to a once in a lifetime event.’
